Problems with baggage

1. What should I do if the returned baggage has been damaged?

If the baggage is damaged you should immediately inform the air carriers (this is the air company carrying the passengers and not the company through which you had purchased the tickets). The maximum compensation per item of luggage is up to 1,000 euros. Claims for damaged baggage must be made within 7 days (if the return of the baggage was delayed - within 21 days after return).

Note. In the event of any baggage related problems it is recommended to apply to the missing baggage unit immediately, still present at the airport. This is especially relevant when returned baggage has been damaged – in this case the employees will evaluate its condition.

2. What should I do if the baggage was delayed or lost?

If the baggage is delayed, you should immediately inform the air carriers (this is the air company carrying the passengers and not the company through which you had purchased the tickets).  The damage suffered by a passenger, when due to the delayed baggage the passenger had to buy essential supplies, will be rewarded, however, the passenger must file a written claim for damages to the airlines not later than 21 days after the return of the baggage.

Airlines are not responsible for the damage if it has been proved that all reasonable and logical measures to prevent damage or injury had been taken or if it was not possible for the airline to avoid the damage.

Note. In the event of any baggage related problems it is recommended to apply to the missing luggage unit immediately, still present at the airport. This is especially relevant when returned baggage has been damaged – in this case the employees will evaluate its condition.
